Maiar

Maiar are powerful spiritual beings from J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional universe, Middle-earth. They are akin to angels or divine messengers, created by the supreme deity Eru Ilúvatar before the shaping of the world. Maiar serve and assist the Valar, the chief guardians of Middle-earth, and possess great wisdom and abilities. Some, like Gandalf and Saruman, take physical form to guide and influence events, but they are essentially immortal spirits working behind the scenes to maintain balance and order in the world.
