Maharajas
Maharajas were rulers or kings of regions in India, traditionally from noble or royal families, who held significant political, military, and cultural authority. The term "Maharaja" means "great king" in Sanskrit and was used for high-ranking monarchs, comparable to emperors or sovereigns in other cultures. They governed their territories, often overseeing wealth, land, and armies, and played key roles in history, art, and religion. While their power varied over time, many Maharajas were influential figures, balancing monarchy with the influence of local traditions and, later, the colonial powers.
