
Maharaja Ranjeet Singh
Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1780–1839) was the founder of the Sikh Empire in North India and Punjab region. Known as the "Lion of Punjab," he united diverse Sikh misls (clans) into a strong, cohesive state and established a powerful, modern army. Ranjit Singh promoted religious tolerance and maintained stability through efficient governance. His reign, lasting about 40 years, enhanced the region's prosperity and security, and he is remembered as a skilled leader who balanced strength with fairness, significantly shaping the history and identity of Punjab.
