Magnox
Magnox refers to a type of nuclear reactor previously used in the UK, characterized by its use of magnesium alloy (Magnox) as the fuel cladding material. These reactors operated using natural uranium as fuel and graphite as a moderator, generating electricity through a controlled nuclear chain reaction. They were designed for simplicity and safety, with the magnesium alloy acting as a protective barrier around the uranium fuel. Although decommissioned now, Magnox reactors played a significant role in early nuclear power development, helping establish nuclear energy as a source of electricity.
