Magnetic Tape Data Storage
Magnetic tape data storage uses long strips of plastic coated with a magnetic material to record digital information. Data is written and read by magnets that align or de-align tiny magnetic particles on the tape surface as it moves past read/write heads. This technology is often used for archival storage and backup because it offers high capacity and cost efficiency over large volumes of data. Magnetic tapes are stored in cartridges or reels, making them portable and suitable for long-term data preservation. Although slower than modern digital storage methods, tapes remain valuable for their reliability and ability to store vast amounts of information economically.
