Magellan's Circumnavigation

Magellan's circumnavigation was the first expedition to sail completely around the world, taking place from 1519 to 1522. Led by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, the journey set out from Spain to find a westward route to Asia. The fleet navigated through dangerous seas, including the treacherous Strait of Magellan at South America's tip. After crossing the Pacific Ocean, they reached the Philippines, where Magellan was killed. The remaining crew continued westward, eventually returning to Spain with valuable ships and data, proving the Earth is round and establishing important navigational routes for future exploration.
