Madame Butterfly

"Madame Butterfly" is an opera by Giacomo Puccini about a young Japanese woman, Cio-Cio-San, who marries an American naval officer, Pinkerton, expecting a lifelong union. However, Pinkerton abandons her, returning to the U.S. and neglecting his responsibilities.
