MAD Theory
MAD Theory, or Mutually Assured Destruction Theory, is a strategy during the Cold War where nuclear-armed nations maintained enough destructive capability to destroy each other. The idea is that if one country launches a nuclear attack, the other would retaliate with equal or greater force, ensuring complete destruction for both sides. This balance of terror discouraged any side from starting a nuclear war, because it would lead to their own ruin. MAD relies on the principle that mutual destruction creates a powerful deterrent, promoting stability through the threat of total retaliation.
