Machemer's technique
Machemer’s technique is a surgical approach used to treat retinal detachment, a condition where the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye peels away from its normal position. The procedure involves removing the vitreous gel from the eye and replacing it with a gas bubble or silicone oil to push the retina back into place. This helps the retina reattach securely. The surgeon may also use circumferential scleral buckling to support the eye’s outer wall. Overall, Machemer’s technique aims to restore the normal position of the retina and preserve vision.
