MacArthur Violence Risk Assessment Study
The MacArthur Violence Risk Assessment Study was a research project that evaluated how well mental health professionals can predict violence in mentally ill offenders. It analyzed various factors, such as mental health history, behavior, and social background, to determine the risk of violent acts. The study found that while some assessments could identify higher-risk individuals, predicting violence with complete accuracy remains challenging. Its goal was to improve assessment methods and inform more effective, evidence-based strategies for managing and reducing violence among risk populations.
