M protein

The M protein is a key component found on the surface of the bacteria responsible for strep throat and other infections caused by Streptococcus bacteria. It helps the bacteria attach to and invade human tissues, making infections more effective. Additionally, the M protein helps the bacteria evade the immune system by preventing the body from recognizing and attacking it quickly. Because of its important role in bacterial survival and disease development, the M protein is a target for vaccine development and diagnostic tests aimed at detecting streptococcal infections.
