Lyot Project
The Lyot Project was a scientific effort to develop advanced imaging technology capable of directly observing planets and other faint objects near bright stars. It used a specialized instrument called a coronagraph, which blocks out the star’s light so that nearby faint objects can be seen more clearly. This helped astronomers search for and study planets outside our solar system, known as exoplanets. The project contributed to improving techniques for capturing high-contrast images in astronomy, advancing our ability to explore and understand the universe beyond our solar system.
