lymphoscintigraphy
Lymphoscintigraphy is a medical imaging technique that helps visualize the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system and helps remove waste and fluid from tissues. During the procedure, a small amount of a safe radioactive substance is injected near a specific area, usually where swelling or concerns exist. A special camera then tracks how the substance moves through the lymphatic vessels to nearby lymph nodes. This imaging allows doctors to identify blockages, leaks, or abnormal lymph node function, aiding in diagnosis and treatment planning for conditions like lymphedema or cancer spread.
