Lyme disease (MADD)

Lyme disease (often called MADD) is an infection caused by bacteria transmitted through the bite of infected black-legged ticks. It can cause symptoms like fever, headache, fatigue, and a distinctive skin rash called erythema migrans. If not treated early with antibiotics, it may lead to more serious issues such as joint pain, neurological problems, and heart issues. The disease is most common in certain areas, especially in spring and summer. Preventive measures include avoiding tick habitats, using insect repellents, and checking for ticks after outdoor activities. Early detection and treatment are key to recovery.
