Lycopodiophyta

Lycopodiophyta, or clubmosses, is a group of ancient, seedless vascular plants related to ferns. They have simple, scale-like leaves called microphylls and produce spores for reproduction, often in cone-like structures called strobili. These plants typically grow low to the ground in forests and woodlands, thriving in shady, moist environments. Lycopodiophyta played a significant role in Earth's prehistoric ecosystems and are considered some of the earliest vascular plants with true vascular tissues for transporting water and nutrients. Today, they are mostly small, ground-covering plants found worldwide, valued for their evolutionary significance and some use in traditional medicine.
