Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. In women, it triggers ovulation, the release of an egg from the ovary, and helps regulate the menstrual cycle. In men, LH stimulates the testes to produce testosterone, which is essential for sperm development and male secondary sexual characteristics. LH works in coordination with other hormones to maintain reproductive health and balance. It can be measured through blood tests to assess fertility, hormonal balance, or the function of the reproductive system.
