Lurain's Law

Lurain’s Law relates to pregnancy and how the body responds to certain medications used to prevent preterm labor, specifically tocolytics like nifedipine. It states that if these medications are administered for more than two days, the risk of the baby developing complications, such as neonatal respiratory issues, increases significantly. Essentially, it suggests that prolonged use beyond this period doesn’t provide additional benefits and may carry higher risks, guiding healthcare providers to limit the duration of tocolytic therapy to optimize maternal and fetal health outcomes.
