Lunokhod
Lunokhod was a series of robotic lunar rovers developed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s. These remote-controlled vehicles were designed to explore the Moon's surface, analyze soil, and transmit images back to Earth. Featuring tracked wheels for mobility over rough terrain, Lunokhods operated autonomously but were monitored remotely, making them pioneering robotic explorers. They provided valuable scientific data, demonstrated lunar surface conditions, and helped advance space exploration technology. The most famous, Lunokhod 1, was the first successful robotic rover on the Moon, paving the way for subsequent missions and robotic exploration efforts.
