Lung volumes

Lung volumes refer to the different amounts of air the lungs can hold during various breathing activities. Key volumes include tidal volume (air inhaled or exhaled during normal breathing), inspiratory reserve volume (extra air you can breathe in after a normal inhale), expiratory reserve volume (air you can exhale forcibly after a normal breath), residual volume (air left in lungs after forceful exhalation), inspiratory capacity (total air inhaled after a normal exhale), and vital capacity (maximum air exhaled after maximum inhalation). These measurements help assess lung function and respiratory health.
