Lung transplant recipients

Lung transplant recipients are individuals who have received a healthy lung (or lungs) from a donor to replace their own damaged or diseased lungs. This procedure is typically done when lung disease severely impairs breathing and other treatments haven't worked. After the transplant, recipients must follow careful medical care, including medications to prevent rejection, and regular check-ups to monitor lung function. While a transplant can significantly improve quality of life and breathing ability, it involves lifelong management and risks such as infection or organ rejection.
