lunar tides
Lunar tides are the rhythmic rise and fall of Earth's oceans caused mainly by the gravitational pull of the Moon. The Moon's gravity pulls the water towards it, creating a high tide in the area facing the Moon. On the opposite side of Earth, inertia causes a second high tide. As Earth rotates, different areas pass through these high tide zones, resulting in the regular cycle of high and low tides. The Sun also influences tides, but to a lesser extent compared to the Moon. Together, these gravitational forces produce the predictable pattern of tides observed worldwide.
