Lunar Surveyor Program
The Lunar Surveyor Program was a series of unmanned NASA spacecraft launched in the 1960s to examine the Moon’s surface. Its goal was to study the terrain, soil, and conditions to ensure safe landing sites for future Apollo missions. The Surveyor landers gently touched down, captured images, and analyzed the lunar soil to understand its composition and stability. This information helped scientists and engineers develop the technology needed to navigate and land on the Moon confidently, ultimately supporting humanity’s first manned lunar landings.
