Lunar Poles

Lunar poles are the regions near the Moon's North and South ends, where sunlight struck the surface at very shallow angles for long periods, creating areas of near-perpetual darkness or constant shadow. These shadowed regions can contain hidden deposits of water ice, which are valuable for future exploration. The poles also experience extreme temperature variations, but their unique lighting conditions make them promising sites for scientific study and potential bases because some areas remain cold and shadowed enough to preserve ice and other materials.
