Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE)

The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) was a NASA spacecraft launched in 2013 to study the Moon’s thin, fragile atmosphere and the behavior of lunar dust. Operating in a low orbit, LADEE gathered data on the composition, density, and dynamics of the lunar exosphere, as well as how dust particles are energized and move near the surface. Its mission helped scientists better understand the Moon’s environment, which is valuable for future lunar exploration and habitability, ensuring safer landings and operations on the Moon’s surface.
