Lubyanka

Lubyanka is a historic building in Moscow that served as the headquarters of the Soviet secret police, first the Cheka, then the NKVD, and later the KGB. Built in the late 19th century, it became a symbol of political repression during the Soviet era. The building housed intelligence, security, and interrogation facilities, often associated with imprisonment and political purges. Today, Lubyanka houses the headquarter of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the successor to the KGB, but retains its historical significance as a symbol of state surveillance and control in Russia’s history.
