LSIL (Low-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion)

LSIL, or Low-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion, is a term used in cervical health to describe minor changes in the cervical cells often caused by a common virus called HPV. These changes are usually mild and often resolve on their own without treatment. LSIL indicates that there are some abnormal cells present, but they are early changes and not cancer. Regular monitoring through follow-up tests, like Pap smears, helps ensure that these changes do not progress to more serious conditions. Most LSIL cases improve over time, especially when closely monitored.
