Loyalist Settlers
Loyalist settlers were people, primarily from the American colonies, who remained loyal to Britain during the American Revolution (1775-1783). They often faced conflicts with revolutionary groups and, after the colonies declared independence, many chose or were forced to leave. These settlers relocated mainly to British-controlled areas such as Canada, the Caribbean, and other parts of the British Empire. Their loyalty to Britain influenced the development of these regions, and their arrival helped shape the culture, politics, and demographics of places like modern-day Canada.
