Loyalist Claims Commission

The Loyalist Claims Commission was a governmental body established in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to address the losses and property claims of loyalists—people who remained loyal to Britain during the American Revolution. Many loyalists had their land, homes, and businesses seized or destroyed, and the commission evaluated their claims for compensation or restitution. Its goal was to provide financial recognition and aid to these individuals and their families, helping to settle disputes over property and assist loyalists in rebuilding their lives after the upheaval caused by the revolution.
