Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome
Lown-Ganong-Levine (LGL) syndrome is a heart condition characterized by abnormal electrical activity in the heart, leading to episodes of rapid or irregular heartbeat. Unlike other heart rhythm issues, LGL features a shortened electrical conduction pathway, which can cause symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, or fainting. It’s caused by a genetic issue that affects how electrical signals move through the heart’s pathways. While often benign, it can occasionally increase the risk of more serious arrhythmias. Diagnosis typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG), revealing distinctive patterns, and treatment may include medications or procedures to manage symptoms and reduce risks.
