Lower Egypt

Lower Egypt refers to the northern region of ancient Egypt, encompassing the Nile Delta area where the Nile River spreads out and flows into the Mediterranean Sea. It was characterized by fertile land, a dense population, and vital trade routes. Historically, Lower Egypt was a key political and economic center, often contrasted with Upper Egypt in the south. The two regions were unified around 3100 BCE, forming the basis of ancient Egypt. Today, the term still denotes the northern part of Egypt, highlighting its importance as a hub of agriculture, commerce, and early civilization.
