Lower Criticism

Lower criticism, also known as textual criticism, is the process of examining and comparing different copies or versions of a text to identify and correct errors or variations. Its goal is to determine the original wording of the document by analyzing factors like handwriting, language changes, and mistakes made over time. This method is often applied to ancient manuscripts, religious texts, or historical writings to establish an accurate and reliable version. Essentially, lower criticism helps us understand what was originally written by carefully studying the differences across multiple copies.
