Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL)

Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is a type of cholesterol-carrying particle in your blood often called "bad" cholesterol. It transports cholesterol from the liver to the cells of your body. High levels of LDL can lead to cholesterol buildup inside the walls of arteries, forming plaque. This narrowing and hardening of arteries can increase the risk of heart disease and strokes. Maintaining healthy LDL levels through diet, exercise, and medications if necessary is important for cardiovascular health.
