Lovell Rebellion

The Lovell Rebellion occurred in 1719 when a group of settlers in North Carolina, led by James Lovell, opposed the colonial government’s policies and taxes imposed by the British. The rebellion was driven by frustrations over lack of representation, economic hardships, and perceived injustice. Although it was swiftly suppressed, it reflected early colonial resistance to British authority, highlighting tensions that would eventually contribute to the broader American movement for independence.
