louse

A louse is a small, wingless insect that lives on the bodies of humans and other mammals. They are parasitic, meaning they feed on blood to survive. Lice are usually about the size of a sesame seed and have six legs equipped with claws to cling tightly to hair or feathers. They can cause itching and discomfort as they bite and lay eggs called nits, which stick to hair strands. Lice spreads mainly through close contact or sharing personal items like combs or hats. They are a common nuisance but treatable with proper hygiene and medications.
