Louisiana State Government

Louisiana's state government consists of three branches: the Executive, headed by the Governor who enforces laws; the Legislature, made up of two chambers—the Senate and House of Representatives, which create laws; and the Judiciary, led by the State Supreme Court, which interprets laws and ensures they follow the Constitution. The state government manages public services, education, transportation, and other statewide issues. It functions within a framework of laws and elected officials to serve the people, balancing powers and maintaining order, while respecting Louisiana’s unique cultural, legal, and historical context.
