Louis-Philippe was the King of France from 1830 to 1848, known as the "Citizen King" because his reign was seen as more liberal and connected to the middle class. He came to power after the July Revolution, replacing the Bourbon monarchy with a constitutional monarchy that allowed more political freedoms. His rule aimed to balance royal authority with parliamentary government but faced growing unrest due to economic issues and demands for broader democracy. Ultimately, widespread discontent led to his abdication and the end of his monarchy, ushering in the Second Republic.
