Louis II of Hungary

Louis II of Hungary was the last king from the Jagiellon dynasty, ruling from 1516 until his death in 1526. His reign was marked by challenges such as the growing power of the Ottoman Empire. Louis II faced the disastrous Battle of Mohács in 1526, where his forces were decisively defeated, leading to the fragmentation of Hungary and subsequent Ottoman rule over much of the country. His death without an heir created a succession crisis, impacting the region's political landscape and paving the way for Habsburg influence in Hungary.
