Loudness

Loudness is how our ears perceive the strength or intensity of a sound, making it feel louder or softer. It's influenced by the sound's amplitude—the larger the vibrations in the air, the louder it seems. Our brains interpret these variations in pressure to determine if a sound is quiet or loud. Factors like background noise, hearing sensitivity, and specific sound frequencies can also affect perceived loudness. In essence, loudness is a measure of how much sound energy reaches our ears and how our brains interpret that energy as intensity.
