Lothar II (of Germany)

Lothar II was a king of the East Frankish Kingdom from 843 until his death in 869. He was a member of the Carolingian dynasty and the grandson of Charlemagne. Lothar II is best known for his struggles over territory and power during a time of fragmentation in the Frankish Empire following Charlemagne's reign. He ruled over regions that are now part of modern-day France and Germany and faced ongoing conflicts regarding his inheritance and political alliances.
