
Lothar I
Lothar I was a medieval ruler who held the title of Holy Roman Emperor from 840 to 855, and also ruled parts of what is now France and Germany. He was a son of Emperor Louis the Pious and helped manage the vast Carolingian Empire. Lothar’s rule was marked by efforts to maintain the empire's unity amid family disputes, often negotiating with his brothers.
