Los Pepes

Los Pepes, short for "People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar," was a vigilante group formed in the early 1990s to target the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar and his associates. Comprising rivals, enemies, and individuals affected by Escobar’s violence, they used intimidation, leaks, and sometimes violence to weaken his operations. Their activities contributed to Escobar’s decline and eventual death in 1993. While not officially linked to any government, Los Pepes played a significant role in escalating the conflict against Escobar, illustrating the complex web of violence and vigilante justice during Colombia’s drug war era.
