
Lorenzo Da Ponte
Lorenzo Da Ponte was an influential Italian opera librettist and poet, best known for writing the texts of some of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most famous operas, including "The Marriage of Figaro," "Don Giovanni," and "Così fan tutte." Born in 1749, Da Ponte’s skill in crafting compelling, expressive stories contributed significantly to the success of these masterpieces. Beyond his work in opera, he was also a scholar, teacher, and a figure involved in various cultural and philosophical circles.
