Lord’s Equating Method

Lord’s Equating Method is a statistical technique used in educational testing to ensure scores from different test forms are comparable. When exams are administered in multiple versions, this method adjusts scores so that results are consistent across all forms, regardless of slight differences in difficulty. It works by identifying common items shared between test forms—called "anchor items"—and analyzing how test-takers perform on these items. Using this data, Lord’s method estimates what scores would be on one form if taken as a different form, enabling fair comparisons and accurate reporting of student abilities across various test versions.
