Long non-coding RNAs
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a type of RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not produce proteins. Instead, they play important roles in regulating gene activity, helping control which genes are turned on or off within a cell. lncRNAs can influence various biological processes, including development, cell growth, and responses to environmental changes. Although they are not used to make proteins, their proper functioning is essential for maintaining normal cell function and health, and they are involved in many diseases, including cancer.
