Long Island State Hospital

Long Island State Hospital, also known as Kings Park Psychiatric Center, was a mental health facility in Kings Park, New York. Opened in the early 20th century, it provided inpatient psychiatric care for individuals with mental illnesses. Over the years, it served thousands of patients and played a key role in mental health treatment in the region. The hospital closed in 1996 due to changes in mental health care approaches and funding. Today, the site is partially redeveloped, with some historic structures preserved, but it no longer functions as a psychiatric hospital.
