Long-Acting Beta Agonists (LABA)
Long-Acting Beta Agonists (LABAs) are medications used to help control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They work by relaxing the muscles around the airways in the lungs, keeping these passages open longer than quick-relief medicines. This helps improve breathing over an extended period, usually lasting 12 hours or more. LABAs are typically prescribed for regular use to prevent symptoms rather than for immediate relief during an attack. They are often combined with inhaled steroids for better control of airway inflammation and should be used as part of a comprehensive management plan under medical supervision.
