Long-acting beta-agonists

Long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs) are medications used to help control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They work by relaxing the muscles around the airways in the lungs, which helps keep the airways open for a longer period—usually around 12 hours or more. This makes it easier to breathe and reduces the frequency of symptoms like wheezing or shortness of breath. LABAs are typically used regularly, often alongside other medications like inhaled steroids, to maintain consistent lung function and prevent exacerbations. They are an important part of managing chronic respiratory conditions.
