London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC)

The London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) was a government agency established in 1981 to regenerate the abandoned and underused dockland area in East London. Its goal was to attract investment, improve infrastructure, and create new jobs by transforming the area into a vibrant commercial and residential district. Over two decades, the LDDC oversaw significant redevelopment, including modern housing, offices, and transport links, helping turn the Docklands into a major economic hub, including the development of Canary Wharf. It played a key role in revitalizing a previously neglected part of London.
