London and North Eastern Railway
The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) was a major British railway company formed in 1923, serving the northeastern regions of England, eastern Scotland, and parts of North Yorkshire. It was created when multiple smaller railways merged as part of the Railways Act 1921, aimed at streamlining operations after World War I. LNER was known for its extensive network, efficient services, and famous trains like the streamlined "Flying Scotsman." It operated until 1948, when the railways were nationalized, and its assets became part of British Railways.
