Locke's Philosophies

John Locke was a 17th-century philosopher who believed that people are born with a "blank slate" (tabula rasa), meaning knowledge comes from experience. He argued that the mind develops through interactions with the environment, shaping our understanding. Locke emphasized natural rights like life, liberty, and property, which governments should protect. He also championed the idea that governments derive their authority from the consent of the governed and that citizens have the right to overthrow unjust rulers. His philosophies laid the groundwork for modern democracy, emphasizing individual rights, reason, and the importance of empirical evidence.
